what’s in our bag?

We are always asked what equipment we shoot with, so here ya go…a list of what we typically carry to all our shoots.  First & foremost, we LOVE our Canon cameras & lenses, nothing beats the beautiful coloring of Canon glass…

• (2) 5D Mark II‘s…we love our trusty 5D’s:)  •

•  50mm, 1.2 (we also have the 50mm, 1.4 as backup)…one of our most versatile lenses, a good mid-range & great in low lighting conditions  •

•  85mm, 1.2…one of our absolute favorite lenses, the coloring is so creamy & delicious, used especially for portraits  •

•  24mm, 1.4…a beautiful piece of glass, used for wide shots:  getting ready, large group formals, landscapes, reception shots  •

•  35mm, 1.4…our newest addition! used for getting ready, group shots, wide portraits & reception shots  •

•  100mm, 2.8…we call this our “ring lens”, we love this macro lens to narrow in close to all those pretty diamonds  •

•  45mm, t/s 2.8…tilt shift lens, used for landscapes and random shots  •

•  70-200mm, 2.8…another favorite lens, used for ceremony, portrait, reception shots, the coloring is so saturated & beautiful    •

•  24-70mm, 2.8…another all-purpose lens, used for detail shots with it’s macro ability, group shots, & receptions  •

•  16-35mm, 2.8…mainly used for wide angles & landscapes, the coloring on this lens is impeccable  •

• (3) 580ex II & (1) 430exII…when we shoot inside & set up off camera lighting these flash units are used  •

•  Pocketwizards…we have (2) Flex TT5 models & (2) Plus II models to operate our off camera lighting  •

•  (2) Light stands & Swivel Adapters

•  Tripod with ball head…used for all ring shots  •

Additional Camera Accessories:

• LOTS of CF cards…we prefer Lexar + Hoodman RAW cards to get the job done  •

•  Quantum Battery…used for on-camera flash  •

•  Flash Battery Packs…used to give our flash units an extra boost & faster recycling time  •

•  LOTS of rechargeable batteries…we prefer the eneloop brand  •

•  Spider Holster

•  ShootSac

•  Kelly Moore Bag…newest addition to my bag collection:)  •

•  Think Tank Airport Roller & Pelican Roller

Computers & Software:

•  MacPro (16GB RAM) & MacBook Pro (17in)  •

•  iPad  •

•  Photoshop CS5 & Photo Mechanic for all processing & culling  •

•  Backup…G-Raid (4TB), Lacie (4TB), BluRay Discs  •

We buy our equipment from B&H Photo , Adorama , & our local camera shop Glen’s Fair Price.

Jodi - Hey Kirsten! Thanks for your comment and question. We do customize our white balance with the Kelvin scale (K), though typically we typically focus on skin tones and let the other colors fall into place. More importantly we believe good color comes from good (natural) light and wide open prime lenses. We also tend to over-expose. Hope that helps!

Kirsten Mavric - Hi Jodi

I’m sure you get asked this constantly, so I apologise in advance, but do you do a custom white balance? Your whites are SO beautifully white! I struggle with colour casts ;)

Kirsten
